Who Hits a Girl?

One of America's dominant ideologies is the belief that it is unacceptable for a male to hit a female, no matter how old they might be. The video of the Jersey Shore cast shows how enraged the other cast members are when "Snooki" was hit square in the face by a man. Mind you that Snooki is a petite female and this guy is a well built male, who easily tower over her. When the entire bar reacted in disbelief, it's show that both male and female understood not hitting a female to be a common rule in society. People were so upset by this event that MTV had to edit out the actual punch being thrown. It goes to show that this rule is a widely held belief.

The scene takes place in a bar in Seaside Heights,New Jersey. Snooki and the other cast members were annoyed with a group of three to four guys because the guys were trying to do everything possible just to be noticed by the camera that was filming the cast of Jersey Shore, a popular reality TV show. When a friend of the cast, Julio, orders shots for only the cast members, the annoying group of guys steals them. Snooki then got in one guys face saying that those weren't their shots and if they wanted the shots, they needed to pay for them. The next thing you know, Snooki is laying on the floor covering her face while crying. All the men in the bar chase the guy who hit her out of the bar and into the waiting arms of the police. Even one of the female cast mates took it upon herself to hit him back, while he was being force out. Snooki is carried to the bathroom where she continues to cry hysterically. In the end, she only ended up with a cut in her gum and a sore mouth.

As long as i can remember, it was unacceptable to hit a female. I am Appalled that a guy could get so drunk, that he ends up punching a girl in the face. He should of had more self control when it came to the alcohol and his temper. Although Snooki was in his face, he still had no right to lay a finger on her. I was pleased to see the other men and women in the bar come to Snooki rescue. In my opinion, they had every right to stand up for her by getting in his face. By the reaction of everyone I know, I can tell the rule of about a male hitting a female is still very much in effect and I hope it stay that way forever!
