According to New York Times Magazines, on August 23, 2010 in downtown Manila, a former police officer captured a busload of people. He was accused of robbery and extortion and was recently fired last year. It was reported that he was watching the live new in the curtain drawn bus while armed with a M-16 assault rifle. Throughout this horrible day the armed man posted messages demanding his job back and benifits useing a cardboard and showed it through the window of the bus. One was quoted, "Big mistake to correct a big wrong decision" (New York Times) Shortly after the gunmans brother complained and was shortly detained and put into a cop car. Gunfire was heard from the bus a couple of minutes after the detainmeant. Gunfire was also heard when police men tried to break open the windows with sledgehammers. A civilian was hit with a bullet in the leg. Police opened the emergency doors and threw tear gas inside the bus, forcing Ronaldo to the front of the bus near the torn up door, resulting in his capture.

This is upsetting and I am so HURT how we live in a world where innocent people get killed for no reason ;( It's sad because my WHOLE family was raised there when there were kids

I really think this event was depressing. I mean, what was going on through this person's mind? I think his actions were really wrong and people shouldn't recieve them. I believe that he should be punished because no one should do this to others! I'm glad he got captured because of what he did to other people and how it affected them.

I totally understand how HURT you are. It was devastating watching the whole thing take place and knowing that you can't do anything. I think that the police in the Philippines could've done a better job. If they had a straight up plan to help the innocent civilians, no one would've died. Everyone is still recovering from this incident and hopefully everyone will be at peace soon :)
