Intro & A Little Too Not Over You

My culture is about music life. It is important because many people enjoy listening to music daily. It is relevant because without music, life would be at slow pace and we wouldn't be motivated as fast as usual. David Archuleta, member of American I-DoL, sings for his fan's enjoyment. The song that is interesting is "A Little Too Not Over You". This music doesn't start causing controversies because its a song about typical freedom. In a way of entertaining others to set their minds in a mood of freedom, evading stress. As we look upon freedom, generally, this song allows ourselves to secure peace to our mind. If may not be an impact to ourselves, but technically, and once again, helping ourselves evade stress.

Music is important because it allows us to set our mind in mood of freedom, allows us to pace ourselves more often, and to generally conquer hard tasks in the way. This topic is related to Ideology since its a pop culture, for which we know, and its an "everyday" human attribute/habit. Technically, it is related to freedom because we allow ourselves to be liberated from whatever comes in our way first. This work shows that America can be improved if better laws are passed from Congress. Note, that America isn't a "perfect" country. Many irrelevant things occur. For ex., a war can be happening. Do we really need this "war" to happen? Yet it can be catastrophic, but better laws make better human civil rights. We all need better freedom, generally speaking. Do this soldiers, working hard all day, all night, Do they really deserve to die? Think about it. This song is generally designed to help others liberate from stress, showing America resumming it's way to finding better freedom.

The song, A Little Too Not Over You, by David Archuleta, was released on January 9, 2009. This song shows the mind doing a simple task. Fighting for freedom, basically.

Lyrics:
Tell me Why you are so hard to forget
Don't Remind me, I'm Not over it
Tell me why i Can't seem to face the truth
-> Didn't think it'd be this hard <-

This portion of the song shows that, this person is over with something. He has enough, or never thought it to be this hard. He sings the song to find the solution, asking for freedom, on in a way for his mind to clear bad things out. Although, it may be hard for some people to picture this song in the mind, think about it this way. Have you ever listened to a song when you are completely stressed out, and needed a song to guide your way back to happiness? This song is similar to this concept except this song is designed to help balance freedom in our mind.

This song describes a boy that is trying to find his path to the truth. He had enough with romance, and that he is not over it, but wants to find the truth. This song shows the boy singing his heart to the world to find freedom to himself. He wants to face the truth. Truth is justice in society, and Justice is "just". Look at the lyrics once again and consider time relaxing from stress. Take your time and listen to this great song and "try"to realize how hard freedom is for some people to find, here in America.

World of Warcraft...Stereotype

World of Warcraft. An MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-playing Game). People view this game as a waste of time and money, Its a game played by eleven million people around the world. I've asked some people about what they think of WoW, and they immediately think of the south park episode, that was centered around the game. It showed the stereotype I'm about to talk about. The typical stereotype is that ALL WoW players are stinky, old, fat guys,  who live in their mother's basement. But I am doing this cultural analysis to prove these people wrong.

WoW player's don't all live in basements. Most of us have lives and live in our own homes and go out with friends. The people I play with in WoW are all lively and successful in their lives. For example, I play with a music teacher who lives in Alabama with her husband. They are a happy couple and they are close friends of mine. They go out and have fun with their family and friends like "normal" people do.

The typical stereotype of warcraft players is nearly non-existent. Most WoW players have families and friends we're not all loners and we just like other people, we're human not some other kind of species. Most have jobs and live on their own home and pay for their own bill. I on the other hand can't live on my own yet, seeing as im only sixteen years old and have no job. But in time I'll be able to live on my own hopefully still playing the game I love and prove all those people who thinks that WoW players are a bunch of no lives who live with their mother.

"The Catalyst"

One of America's Dominant-ideologies is the belief that war is the answer to solving problems and gaining peace. The new song by Linkin Park, called "The Catalyst", criticizes this to much extent. The title is criticizing how we live today(catalyst*), by stating that we are speeding up the end of the world. One interpretation of this song is to make people think about how the consequences of our actions will affect our world. It is trying to show that sometimes what we do has had good intentions, but that it will actually have a negative affect on humanity. In this song it references nuclear weapons, they were made to end wars right? Yet they commit atrocities to the people of this world and also to the world itself. And still our country has nuclear weapons, even though everyone knows when only a single nuke is used for war, the rest of the world will be firing them off. As a result, the world as we know it will be utterly destroyed.

In my opinion, this is what the song talks about: We are a oppressed people living with a trigger finger(we are all waiting for one country to make the move). Most of the world has nuclear weapons even though once they are used, the destruction will be inevitable. One day we will wake up to a nuclear war and then all that will be left of us will be nuclear decay. It will be a uninhabited world, completely destroyed. That we need God to intervene so that we do not all die from the mistakes that will have caused the end.

This song is portraying that war is not always the answer, and that it will actually just lead to disaster. One of the verses say this "Will we burn inside the fires of a thousand suns For the sins of our hand The sins of our tongue The sins of our father The sins of our young No". In other words, are we going to start and die in a nuclear war because of what decisions our leaders make, what countries say about each other, what our previous leaders have started, and of what our next generation will begin? No! Not if we stand up to war and to the use of nuclear weapons. Not if we accomplish things without the use of weapons and instead gain the courage to compromise with other countries. Another verse is "And it can't be outfought It can't be outdone It can't be outmatched It can't be outrun". Here it talks about how nuclear weapons can not be evaded. There is literally no place on earth where you can escape the effects of a nuclear war, one of many reasons why we should never start a nuclear war. Another is that there will only be one outcome of it, and that is death.

*(a catalyst is a substance placed into a chemical reaction in order to speed up the reaction)

Wrangler Jeans advertisement

One of America's main ideologies is the belief that woman are inferior to men and are just there for enjoyment and to control. This is mainly portrayed in today's media and pop culture. An advertisement for Wrangler Jeans featured an array of different womens acting in animal-like ways while sporting the jeans. Each advertisement is marked with the quote, "We are animals". One ad shows a woman's body floating in water wearing the jeans. Another is a woman's drenched inert legs in the jeans lying in the dirt. Most the photos depict women being savage animals in the woods caught on camera.

How this will attract customers is questionable. I believe that the Wrangler company is trying to say that customers that have a rough and tumble sort of life can depend on Wrangler jeans because they're tough and durable enough. To me the ads tells me if I wear wrangler jeans, I'll turn into some crazy she-beast that roams in the woods. Have they crossed a line? Most would say yes. However just like in regular media, the women in the advertisement are depicted as objects to make a sale. Many may argue that the ads present violence against women but I don't see it. Others also may think that the women in these ads are dead but they are very much alive. While one of the ads shows only the back of a woman in the water if you look closely her head is up and floating. She's an animal waiting in the water.

Why should women be depicted as savage animals in this ad? Last time I checked, men wore jeans too. And the way manner in which Wrangler decided to show these women was very risky. Lots of fashion followers were hurt and grossed out by the ads. And instead of saying "We are Animals" the ads says more along the lines of "You women are animals". This ad is way far from portraying women's sexiness, they've crossed that lined and pretty much showed that women are savage, uncivilized, animals.

The Perfect Man

Can there really a perfect man out there?  For my Cultural Analysis report I had took the time reading tons and tons of Esquire magazines.  What do I see as a Perfect Man? Well for starters, they have the perfect build, they're rich, they get the ladies and they smell.  Many of these people do not have these traits, and many probably won't ever.  In this magazine it talks about what a man right now should be like right now.  The magazine writes on guides to living a better life and guides to getting the ladies.

The Esquire is usually read by male college students and older men.  They give tips on style, ways to talk to women and celebrity interviews. They also show how to cook like a man, and how to take care of kids.  Many people do also ask questions to Esquire and most do get answered. I personally enjoy reading this book because it brings entertainment and gives advices to me on stuff.  While women are reading their own magazines, us men can read this or comics.

The American Ideology is belief that to get women and lots of money you have to look the part of a man.  I personally dont think so because that some people that are overweight, unsuccessful, and poor can sometimes get the girl of their dreams. I personally think that the american belief of a perfect man shouldn't be a athletic and flirty guy, it should be someone with good personality traits.

LGBT

One of America's Dominant ideologies is that being Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Transgender (LGBT) is unnatural. People most of the time speak without thinking and don't actually see the pain they cause others and how it actually affects them. I personally feel offended when anyone is judged by their sexuality. This to me is shaping American society in the way that people can really stoop so low to bust their own confidence by putting other down to feel unwanted. LGBT people are fighting for their civil right in the courtrooms and on the street besides these advances in the American mainstream LGBT people still continue to deal with discrimination all over the world.

The U.S military discriminates against lesbians and gays. Moms and dads of LGBT children and teens loose custody because their children wont be aloud to marry and because it's wrong because of the religion they fallow and were taught. In the end however religion doesn't matter nor what other people think is normal. People in general think "different" is wrong. Choosing to be LGBT can be genetic, a mind set, or just an overall attraction. Despite increased acceptance of LGBT people in today's pop culture LGBT teens are still being harassed and bullied. I don't understand why tormenting is necessary as long as they're happy with their life's its none of our business.

"Across the globe, there remain many instances where an individuals' sexual orientation or gender identity can lead them to face execution, imprisonment, torture, violence or discrimination." This depresses me to know that this has happened and still continues. Its sexuality, there is no right and wrong. That's like saying its wrong to like the color red over orange. It really shouldn't matter what someone wants for themselves and to become consumed with what others want for themselves is a result of ignorance and fear. If gay people aren't harming your children, vandalizing your property and possessions or trying to hurt you then why should they feel like they can't feel comfortable in their own skin.

The graffiti artist obey supports the ideology that graffiti is more than just vandalism. Obey is one of the most famous graffiti artist of our time. Obey has been putting out for a while. Street art is a growing trend that kids even now are getting into. obey is showing everyone that graffiti is a lot more than just vandalism. He is helping prove this by putting out a lot of art in more places than just the streets. Obey is breaking a lot of there stereotypes involved in street art.

Obey has put out many peices of art in the past few years. He started with paste ups on the streets. Then he became more mainstream and started making his own clothing brand. He also release the poster of obama in red and blue that says hope at the bottom of it. He has also has released his own clothing brand called obey. You can find the clothing brand at zummiez.
